It's no secret that the fashion industry loves black. From a Rick Owens-clad crowd outside Palais de Tokyo to the flock of Vogue Paris editors led by Emmanuelle Alt in the Tuileries, fashion's love affair with all-black-everything is a real documented thing - and it goes way beyond simple utility and functionality.
Yes, it goes with everything, but according to color psychology, black represents authority, power, elegance, discipline and mystery and is a way to communicate an authoritative image or protect one's emotions from external stress. Is it any wonder it's a fashion week favorite?
In considering that creatives can be particularly vulnerable, and the fashion industry is not easy on mental health due to its emphasis on perfectionism, strained resources and ego-driven forces, armour-like black is perhaps the only color that makes one feel safe.
